Plan Ahead Now And Reduce Delayed Payments: Here Are Your Key May Bank Holiday BACS Processing Dates.

With three national bank holidays in the UK during May 2023 (that’s one more than usual, thanks to the coronation of Charles III), now is a great time to plan your charity’s Direct Debit arrangements and avoid any payment delays resulting from non-processing over the bank holidays.

Here are the key bank holiday dates this May, for easy reference:

  • Monday 1 May, Early May Bank Holiday.
  • Mon 8 May, celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III.
  • Monday 29 May, Spring Bank Holiday.

By forward planning now, you can ensure that your charity’s payments will be collected on time and in accordance with the Service User Guide and Rules so that your Direct Debits are taken correctly.

If your charity is processing in-house, we totally understand how stressful bank holiday adjustments can sometimes be for your team. As you know, it is vital that your charity’s donations, membership, and lottery Direct Debits are taken correctly.

To help you achieve this, we have prepared this useful summary of important dates for your in-house Direct Debit payment processing team:

How will the Bank Holidays affect our existing Direct Debit clients?

The great news is that, for all our existing Direct Debit clients, we already have this covered for you. So you can just relax in the run up to the bank holidays and then sit back and enjoy the (hopefully) balmier weather, maybe even have a Coronation BBQ, safe in the knowledge that your charity’s Direct Debit donations are being processed by us and that the funds will be debited and credited correctly.

Effective payment processing is our expertise, so that is one thing less for you to worry about when you come back to work after the bank holiday.

If your Direct Debits are done in-house

If, on the other hand, your charity is processing its Direct Debits in-house and you are concerned about getting it right as well as being worried about the pressure this puts on an already overstretched team, then please do get in touch to see how we can help support you now and in the future.
